Volkswagen Golf Gti Some cars attract worldwide fame and acclaim for their film or TV appearences, others for their motorsport heritage, and others because they started a revolution, and the ripples made by the first VW Golf GTI are still felt today. With the arrival of the Golf GTI, no longer did the driver have to choose between practicality and performance nor did they need to spend a small fortune to have a car which was fun to drive and reasonably well equipped, this "Volkswagen" really defined what it was to be a "People's Car" and gave birth to a term known to enthusiasts the world over – The "Hot Hatch" was born. This MK2 model features the EA827 engine which is, by today's standards, incredibly simple and is known for its legendary reliablility. Delivering around 110bhp from the factory and a fairly impressive 113ft/lb of torque, by today's standards these figures don't sound too blistering, but when you consider this is in a car which weighs less than 950kg, the car which defined what it is to be a Hot Hatch starts to make sense. Finished in gloss black, this desireable three-door example sits on freshly refurbished and powder-coated 14" BBS style alloy wheels which have been fitted with very recent matching tyres. The front grille features the famous red pinstripe which denotes the GTI model and front fog lamps were fitted as standard equipment. A discrete twin-tip stainless steel exhaust has been fitted which is in keeping with the original look, feel and sound of the car, but beyond this there are no modifications to speak of. Internally, the check cloth seats are both supportive and comfortable thanks to extended bolsters and additional padding, a style which VW recently paid homage to with the "Edition 30" interior on the MK5 and MK6 Golfs. Furthering VW's ethos that the Golf could be "all things to all people" it also features front electric windows and a manual "tin top" sunroof, a modern JVC stereo/CD player has also been installed giving just enough convenience features that the driver shouldn't feel like they are driving something from a completely bygone time! With a partial service history consisting of stamps in the service book and a number of bills and invoices, these cars are often enthusiast-owned (as is the case here) and because of the ease with which it is possible to work on them, they are often serviced by the owner on the driveway or in their own garage meaning that there is often less documented history than servicing which has actually been carried out on the car The Golf comes with lots of parts from full interior, doors, wings etc Please visit our website for more pictures !!!!
